Description

"Some" and "any" are adjectives that we use to identify an indefinite number or amount. The adjectives can be used with all verb tenses and come before a plural noun. "Some" is used in a positive statement. "Any" is used in a negative sentence. Either one may be used in question form.

Positive


I need some food.

You need some food.

He needs some food.

She needs some food.

It needs some food.

We need some food.

You need some food.

They need some food.

Negative


I don't need any food.

You don't need any food.

He doesn't need any food.

She doesn't need any food.

It doesn't need any food.

We don't need any food.

You don't need any food.

They don't need any food.

Examples:

I need some apples and oranges.

We don't need any coffee.
